The 4th of July

Cliff had to work on the 4th of July so me and the kids began our day heading down to Creswell for the annual 4th of July Parade. I was so excited for the parade as the kids are a little older now, I thought they'd really enjoy it this year. WRONG! Granted, it was really hot outside and that does tend to make a person crabby. However, I don't think it was the heat that bothered the kids the most, they did NOT like all the noise. T spent most of the day with his ears plugged and K spent a lot of the day curled up in someone's lap or crying. Good times...good times.

After the parade, we went to Grammy and Grandad's for pizza. The kids were so worn out by this time that we didn't stay too long and ended up coming home for naps. After taking a nap (all three of us) and having a chance to cool down, we went over to my parent's and spent the evening running through the sprinkler and playing.

We spent most of the evening until bedtime at Mom and Dad's and then came home to find that our neighbors were still having their "block party" so we were able to join them after being gone all day. The kids played and played and played with the two neighbor kids. We visited and had even more good food (as if we needed it after the day of eating we'd had). Once it got dark out, one of the neighbors got out their fireworks so we blocked the cul-de-sac end of our street with a line of our chairs and had our own private firework show. Once again, T had his ears plugged because he didn't like the noise. At first K did the same but then she got really into it and even did some sparklers herself.
