Mother's Day

We spent the day yesterday with Cliff's family down in Creswell. It was a Mother's Day/Goodbye for Jen, Tim and the kids as they are moving to Spokane in the next couple of weeks. It was a great day to all be together. The kids played and played with their cousins. We checked on Trevor late last night when we were heading to bed and he hadn't moved an inch from where we laid him down when we first got home. We tried to get some family photos as it may be a while before we are all together again. I had told Cliff that he wouldn't have to give me anything for Mother's Day if I could just miss out on the experience of getting six kids together for a photo with their great-grandma. Somehow I ended up outside again. Not only did I end up outside but I had to be in the photo - grrr. :0) So here are a couple of the family shots.

This one cow imparticular was very interested in what I was doing while taking pictures.

The view from the back patio - isn't it gorgeous?!

Orange boogers

So you see a title like, "Orange boogers" and you mights as well prepare yourself for something gross, right? Yeah, it's gross. We had our first experience with a child sticking things up their nose and K decided to be the first.

The kids were eating lunch and I ran upstairs to visit with Cliff for a minute when we hear from downstairs, "Mom??!!" It was T and his voice sounded like there was probably something going on down there. Cliff said he'd take care of it and went downstairs. Shortly after Cliff arrives I hear, "Um, honey...I think I'm gonna need your help with this." I come downstairs to find K crying, T with a strange look on his face and Cliff...um, he might have had a weird look on his face too. Anyhow, he informs me that K stuck Cheetos up her nose, one in each nostril.

I got the tweezers (which by the way will no longer be used on my eyebrows after this experience) and away we went, digging for Cheetos. We were trying to be very careful as we didn't want to push them back farther. As it was, we could only see the very tip of the Cheetos. So we got the one out of one nostril but every attempt on the other side was unsuccessful. We'd think we had it and would squeeze the tweezers together and it would just "crunch" the chip. It was such a disguisting noise to hear up your sweet little two year old daughter's nose.

We were getting ready to call the doctor and ask what we should do when we hear K sort of snort. She then starts crunching something in her mouth and yells, "I DID IT!" Yep, she snorted the Cheetos from her nose back down her throat and into her mouth. DISGUSTING!! The Cheeto was already in her tummy before we could get her to open her mouth. The nurse said that as long as she didn't seem to be having any "respiratory distress" then she should be fine. K got down from lunch, washed her hands and asked to take a nap so we decided that she must be just fine.

So this is the day in the Harrold household. Crazy, never boring and usually loud and messy. :0)

My big girl

So we started potty training. I had no intentions of beginning this horrible, never ending process but K had other things in mind. It all started as a simple shopping trip to Walmart. I saw some big girl undies so I thought I'd pick them up for later this summer when we started to potty train. I showed them to K knowing full well that she would not be interested. She looked at them and said, "No thanks Mommy, I just go peep in my pants." I thought for sure right then and there that we were going to have the worst time training her. Later that night I was cleaning up the little potty that we used when we potty trained T (which by the way, was less than a year ago - what are we thinking??!!). K saw the potty and said, "I go peeps in there." She sat down a couple of times and by the third of fourth time, she had gone potty in the potty! That was last Thursday night, today is Wednesday and she's been going pee and poop in the potty with very few accidents. We're so proud of her! When did she get so big?

This is K's smile. Everytime we want to take a picture and ask her to smile, she closes her eyes and puts on a big grin. Hopefully she'll keep her eyes open during senior year photos. :0)

This crazy life...

I was reminded today that it's been a long time since I "blogged" so here I am once again. So much has been going on lately. In April we celebrated my niece Cadence's birthday, she's turning three. It was so much fun having her and Eli here for our kids to play with. Eli is 8 months older than T. T is then 10 months older than Cadence. Cadence is 8 months older than K. So a 4 year old, two 3 year olds and a 2 year old, lots and lots of fun. :0)

Eli and Cadence hiding behind the bedroom door while Aunt Becky tried to get a shot.

Excited for presents!

Also in April was drive-in night for Cubbies at AWANA at church. AWANA is something T goes to every Wednesday night where he earns patches for his vest by memorizing his verses. He has so much fun there. So on drive-in movie night, each child has to bring in a cardboard box decorated like a car. T's was a Sheriff's Office patrol car this year. The back license plate read, "ILOVEAWANA."

We'd thought he'd be so excited about his "woo-woo car" but as you can see, he was less than thrilled at first. Cliff's sister Ronda did see him at AWANA though and he was so happy sitting in his little car, eating popcorn and watching Veggie Tales on a big screen TV. He better like it, I worked hard on that thing! :0)

So our most recent news (other than all the surgery stuff going on with me) is that we found out that Cliff's mom has cancer in her uterus. They are doing more tests to find out if it has spread or not so we are very hopeful and prayerful that the cancer is limited to her uterus and a hysterectomy would elminate it all. Please keep her in your prayers as well as the entire family. Thank you!
